Amsterdammers may love complaining about tourists, but hey: If you can’t beat them, join them! The eighth Hotel Night takes place on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 January—in other words: the perfect time for a staycation.

Around forty hotels are opening their doors to local residents. That means sleeping for next to nothing in the most beautiful hotels and enjoying a truly royal breakfast, because yes: breakfast is (usually) included. Tip from our editor-in-chief Sharon: Krasnapolsky had an ama-zing buffet last time. Mmmm.

Party, party and more party

As if that weren’t enough, the hotels are also organising fun drinks receptions, afternoon teas, dinners, cocktail parties, masterclasses and all kinds of creative parties throughout the weekend. For two days, Amsterdammers can see their own city through a tourist’s eyes and discover beautiful hotel bars, hotel restaurants and spas. The exact programme has not yet been announced, but judging by previous years, it promises to be another great party (proof: the photos below).

Early-bird offer

This weekend—from Saturday 28 September at 12:00 noon—the early-bird offer starts, using a waiting system for the first time. This gives everyone an equal chance to book a lovely hotel room with two affordable Hotel Night Tickets. From 12:00 noon the following day, Amsterdammers without an early-bird code can also book a hotel room with tickets.

Only for Amsterdammers?

Is it really only for Amsterdammers? Yes. At least, the person making the booking must live in the 020 area code region. This includes: Amstelveen, Amsterdam, Amsterdam South-East, Badhoevedorp, Broek-in-Waterland, Den Ilp, Diemen, Duivendrecht, Halfweg, Ilpendam, Landsmeer, Schiphol Airport, Oude Meer, Ouderkerk aan de Amstel, Schiphol, Schiphol-Rijk, Uitdam, Watergang, Zuiderwoude and Zwanenburg. You may bring someone from outside the region, by the way, as long as the person making the booking is from the 020 region. No cheating: your details will be checked at check-in.
