People who completely flip out (seriously) when the food turns out badly

Your partner has cooked, but the food is a huge disappointment. What do you do? Do you hide your meal under a layer of applesauce or grated cheese and bravely eat on? Give some positive feedback on how to make it better next time? These people went very far: a kitchen blunder led to… murder.

A meal can always go wrong. Even heating up a ready-made meal can turn into a disaster (mistaking the hot-air oven icon for the microwave one, for example), a frozen pizza becomes a jet-black Frisbee and canned soup boils over on the stove. Nothing to be done—better luck next time. But sometimes people completely lose it when the food is disappointing. An awful mood when you’re hungry is officially called hangry, which is very relatable. But surely it doesn’t have to go further than a bit of grumbling and snapping.

Flavorless cabbage soup
Not if you live in Russia and cook cabbage soup with no flavor. Two years ago, a man beheaded his girlfriend for that very reason. The man had started drinking heavily after losing his job, and apparently he was a very angry drunk. And then there was that bland soup on top of everything else—that was the last straw for him. After the murder, he tried to kill himself, but failed. The police arrested him. Let’s hope the food in prison is better seasoned.
‘I don’t like spaghetti’
‘And if I hit you, it wasn’t intentional. But I’ve said twenty times already that I don’t like spaghetti,’ sings comedian Hans Teeuwen. You’d better not run into the wrong person, Hans. Another Russian woman, Evgenia, stabbed her husband because he complained about the food. He thought there wasn’t enough salt in it; she had had enough of his whining about the food and grabbed her kitchen knife. She stabbed him no fewer than 35 times while he slept.
