Pianeta Terra named the best Italian restaurant in the Netherlands once again
What an achievement! The Italian Slow Food restaurant Pianeta Terra in Amsterdam has been named the best Italian restaurant in the Netherlands for the fifth consecutive time. For 25 years, the former stable in the heart of the city has been serving up forward-thinking ideas about sustainability, waste and more planet-friendly cooking and consumption in an engaging way. And it’s clearly paying off!
How did Pianeta Terra take first place among the best Italian restaurants in the Netherlands? Well, the Slow Food restaurant came in 31st on the 50 Top Italy list of the 50 best Italian restaurants in the world. No Italian restaurant in the Netherlands ranks higher on the list. This means that Pianeta Terra is— for the fifth time in a row!—the best Italian restaurant in the Netherlands.
No bolognese at Pianeta Terra
Incidentally, this is not the place for pizza or spaghetti bolognese. It is the place for special dishes such as pork cheek from “Buitengewoon Varken”, Wild Wadden Sea oysters from “Goede Vissers” and—hold on tight—crow breast from “De Keuken van het Ongewenste Dier”. The products come from small local suppliers, from the Slow Food Presidia—which support the high-quality cultivation of crops and species threatened with extinction—and from the Ark of Taste.

More than an ode to Italy, Pianeta Terra is a passionate plea for Mother Earth, presented in three to seven surprising courses. In keeping with the sustainable philosophy that forms the basis of everything that comes from the kitchen, the wine list is entirely organic, biodynamic, natural, slow and Italian.
