Poké Perfect and Kesbeke launch the sourest bowl of the year
What do you get when you put Poké Perfect and Kesbeke together in a kitchen? Exactly: a bowl that completely surprises your taste buds. From today, the Kesbeke Bowl is available at all Poké Perfect locations and believe us, you don’t want to miss this one.
You may know Poké Perfect for its delicious bowls and great collaborations. Such as The Famous Falafel Bowl with NENI, the ceviche bowl with Sjefietshe and collabs with Ron Blaauw. And now they’ve struck gold once again. A combination you didn’t even know would work.
It’s no surprise that this is with Kesbeke, which was awarded first prize just a few months ago in our FavorFlav Food Top 100. And is always up for something crazy.
How this collaboration came about
Poké Perfect co-founder Quinta Witzel had been crushing on Kesbeke’s pickles for quite some time. “We recognize ourselves in the way they work: no-nonsense, artisanal and full of flavour. I knew immediately: this is a match.” So, heavily pregnant, she headed to the Kesbeke factory with a few sample bowls under her arm.
Oos and son Camiel Kesbeke welcomed her into what they call ‘organized chaos’. “We tasted, laughed and combined things until it was right,” says Quinta. And as is customary when meeting Kesbeke, Quinta was sent home with a jar of sour bombs. “We always do that with pregnant women,” says Oos. Priorities, people.
The Kesbeke Bowl: sour is the new sexy
The base is classic Poké Perfect: sushi rice, Thai-seasoned minced chicken, carrot, corn, a dollop of Kewpie mayo and some sesame for crunch. But this time, the starring role goes not to the chicken, but to the generous amount of Kesbeke pickles. Think pickle slices, pearl onions and spicy kimchi. The kind of topping you didn’t know you needed until you tasted it.
The strength of this bowl? The balance. The chicken is savoury and spiced, the kimchi fiery, and the acidity fresh and funky. All brought together in a bowl that demands your attention.
