South American ceviche and the Hawaiian poké bowl are two of the most popular dishes of the moment. What do you get when you combine the two? A ceviche bowl—what a brilliant idea!

Ceviche, the trend that has been circulating for quite a few years and finally took our country by storm last year, is a Peruvian dish originally made with fresh fish, cured in citrus juices such as lime and lemon, and seasoned with garlic, chili pepper, onions and coriander. Delicious, if you ask me. Also very tasty: a ‘poké bowl’. In other words, a bowl of diced raw fish (often salmon or tuna) with soy sauce, sesame oil and rice, and often avocado and edamame beans too.

A delicious double act

Sjefietshe, the popular ceviche bar from De Pijp, which has been delighting culinary enthusiasts with beautiful fish dishes and various exciting ceviches since 2019 (as well as the famous Hotdoctopus sandwich!), has joined forces with Poké Perfect. In 2016, Poké Perfect were the first to bring the Hawaiian poké bowl to the Netherlands. Together, they have launched the ceviche bowl: a delicious double act between Hawaii, home of the poké bowl, and Peru, known for ceviche.

Brilliant idea: a ceviche bowl

A first!

And it really is a first: Poké Perfect and Sjefietshe are the first in the Netherlands to launch a ceviche bowl. The bowl mainly features fresh, summery flavors and ingredients—sea bream, Leche de Tigre, mango, daikon and sesame kimchi—and is prepared, wherever possible, with sustainably produced and locally sourced products.

Want to try the ceviche bowl?

The ceviche bowl is available from June through August and costs €12.50. The ceviche bowl is available at all Poké Perfect locations, via the website or via Thuisbezorgd and Uber Eats.
