Rally your friends: Amsterdam Cocktail Week is coming up again

Amsterdam is a paradise for cocktail lovers. Especially for those looking for craftsmanship, creativity and a unique setting. And that’s exactly what you can experience during Amsterdam Cocktail Week. This year marks the 7th edition, with 17 bars across the city serving their creative signature drinks for an entire week. With and without alcohol.

We recently told you about the 18 coolest, most exciting, beautiful and craziest cocktail bars in Amsterdam. And most of them aren’t just throwing their doors wide open during Amsterdam Cocktail Week; there’s also a whole programme of events this week. Whether you’re a seasoned cocktail connoisseur or simply looking for a great place to sip a top-notch cocktail with friends/colleagues/your partner/family… Here’s an overview of what you can expect from Amsterdam’s cocktail bars.
Programme Amsterdam Cocktail Week
Events, tastings and workshops are being organised throughout the city. On 5 September, as many bars as possible will come together at ARCA for the headline event ‘Sip Swap Shake’. Flying Dutchman Cocktails, Dutch Courage, Belly of the Beast, NEXT and Taiko, among others, will run the bar together for one evening, allowing cocktail connoisseurs (in the making) to taste as many new things as possible.
At Duke of Tokyo, cocktails come with tunes on 8 September during Vinyl Night, and on 9 September Botiva is hosting a workshop on non-alcoholic spirits. Having trouble choosing? You won’t have to during the WOGO Cocktail Walk. On this walking tour, you’ll visit Zum Barbarossa, NEXT and Belly of the Beast for a drink.
International bartenders
But perhaps the very best part is this: international bartenders are also coming to the capital. Renowned names will take over Amsterdam bars for an evening. On 4 September, for example, Super Lyan is bringing Copenhagen bar Bird to Amsterdam for a shift. Flying Dutchmen Cocktails will be run by Barbary Coast that evening. At Dutch Courage, you’ll find the team from Budapest’s Boutiq behind the bar on 3 September, and on 10 September, Copenhagen’s TATA Cocktailbar will close out the week with a guest shift at Fitz’s Bar.
Fantastic locations
If you’re not already on the edge of your seat or dancing past it in a conga line: many bars work with seasonal and often unusual ingredients and experiment extensively with new flavours and techniques. They go all out to serve you classic cocktails with a twist or entirely new creations that you won’t find anywhere else. And then there are the fantastic locations; many cocktail bars in Amsterdam are housed in beautiful, historic buildings that guarantee a unique atmosphere. Like Rosalia’s Menagerie, where unforgettable cocktails are served in a wonderfully crazy setting.
Participating cocktail bars
During this edition of Amsterdam Cocktail Week, there are 17 bars to visit: ARCA, Barbue, Bar Bacán, Belly of the Beast, Duke of Tokyo, Dutch Courage, Fitz’s Bar, Flying Dutchmen Cocktails, Law & Order, Lotti’s, LuminAir, NEXT, Rosalia’s Menagerie, Super Lyan, Taiko, The Tailor and Zum Barbarossa.
