Brilliant idea: how to make a Rocket Cocktail

Raketjes cocktail

It’s hot, you’re thirsty, you’re lazy: we’ve all been there. Craving a cocktail, but there isn’t a cocktail bar to be found anywhere, let alone a handsome Tom Cruise to shake up a refreshing long drink for you. No problem, just drag that sweaty body over to the freezer and with this super-fast cocktail, you’ll be sticky and tipsy in no time. Winner!

Cocktail with a Rocket ice lolly

We wish the idea for this brilliant long drink had originated in the FavorFlav editorial office, because we really are that creative, but all the credit goes to the clever folks at Sterk in de keuken. Two brothers who aren’t afraid to make a cheesecake with Licor43, who brew litres of Baileys in their own kitchen and surprise friend and foe with homemade sausage rolls. Those are exactly the kind of people you want to know on Instagram, where they also shared their super-fast Rocket cocktail.

By feel and with Bacardi

In short: take one of those childish ice lollies (but oh so delicious) out of its wrapper and place it upside down in a long-drink glass. Pour in Bacardi raspberry and orange soda, then pour berry gin over a spoon. The quantities? They’re in their cookbook Every recipe a party, but you can also go by feel – after about five cocktails, you’ll have discovered the ideal proportions, hips. Stir, drink, done.

Plenty of inspiration

After a few sips, it starts to work: cooling down while warming up at the same time, honestly, it’s possible. And the brilliant ideas start bubbling too: why not pear ice lollies with that Licor43 and 7Up? Or one of those lemon pops in a gin and tonic? All we’re saying is: those Sterk brothers are extraordinarily inspiring.
