With the slogan ‘This works too‘, the first nationwide campaign for a more plant-based diet was launched on 1 June. Campaign initiator Green Protein Alliance wants to show with the campaign that instead of animal products, you also have a plant-based option 9 times out of 10 that is at least as easy and delicious. In this case: a skewer with black bean balls and vegan tzatziki!

Method

  • Add all the ingredients for the black bean balls to a food processor and blend until combined. There can still be a few pieces left for texture, but the mixture should stick together. If it is too dry, you can add some olive oil. Is it too wet? Then add extra oat flour.
  • Roll the mixture into balls.
  • Fry the balls in a layer of olive oil for about 1–2 minutes per side. You can now keep them in the fridge until you are ready to barbecue.
  • For the barbecue, thread the balls onto a skewer. Grill the black bean balls for about two minutes per side.
  • Meanwhile, make the tzatziki by mixing all the ingredients together. Serve the tzatziki with the black bean balls.
