Recipe: Fireball Grilled Pineapple (with Whiskey!)

fireball gegrilde ananas

Who doesn’t remember it; that rock-hard red Fireball from back in the day, and how you would stand outside the candy store already wincing at the pain on your tongue, chewing away until your jaw went numb? The good old days… What if we told you that you can use those flavors (cinnamon! cayenne pepper!) to make a very grown-up fruit dish?

Little kids grow up, so in your nostalgic reinterpretation you can simply add a splash of booze to give this wonderfully summery grilled pineapple that adult boost. Very tasty on your BBQ plate, or as dessert with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream. You can order Fireball whiskey online, but if you don’t have any on hand, make this with regular whiskey and an extra pinch of cinnamon and cayenne.

How to make Fireball grilled pineapple

  • Cut the pineapple quarters into even pieces and place them in a large bowl.
  • Pour in the whiskey and refrigerate for 1 hour. Stir once after 30 minutes.
  • Remove the pineapple from the liquid with a slotted spoon (and save the liquid for, for example, a Penicillin cocktail!) and mix the pineapple in a bowl with the cinnamon sugar and cayenne pepper until all the fruit is coated.
  • Place on the hot BBQ or in a grill pan over medium heat.
  • Turn regularly until a skewer slides easily into the center of a piece, about 8 to 10 minutes.
  • Delicious, right?!
