Recipe: McDonald’s Big Mac

header Big Mac guilty pleasure

Less sugar, less fat, less meat… No matter how healthy it may all be, sometimes nothing beats an overdose of cream, chocolate or melted cheese. That’s exactly what you’ll find in Sabine Koning’s Guilty Pleasures cookbook. From this McDonald’s Big Mac to Jack Daniel’s spareribs; every recipe in this book is fingerlickin’ good!

Sabine: “The burger itself isn’t anything special; of course, it’s all about the sauce. After Googling for a long time and getting a tip on Facebook, I discovered that Heinz Sandwichspread Tuinkruiden would be a good ingredient for the sauce.. And wow, I’ve never been so blown away before when recreating a famous burger. That sandwich spread really makes it, so please don’t replace it in ‘my’ Big Mac recipe either.”

How to make the McDonald’s Big Mac

  • Stir all the ingredients for the Big Mac sauce together and set it aside while you make the burgers.
  • Put the ground beef in a bowl and add pepper and salt to taste. Knead it briefly, then shape the ground beef into four large, thin burgers. Fry the burgers in a little butter in a frying pan until cooked through.
  • Place the hamburger buns in the microwave for 20 seconds so they become a little softer. Then carefully cut the buns into thirds.
  • Finely chop the onion, cut the iceberg lettuce into strips and the pickle into thin slices.
  • Spread a spoonful of sauce on the bottom part of the bun. Top with a little iceberg lettuce, followed by a slice of cheddar and a hamburger. Divide some onion and pickle over the hamburger and place the middle part of the hamburger bun on top.
  • Spread the middle layer of the hamburger bun with a little sauce as well, followed by iceberg lettuce. Place another hamburger on top and finish with onion and pickle. Complete the bun by placing the top back on. Serve the Big Mac immediately.
