Aha! This is where your McDonald’s food comes from

McDonald’s nuggets (1)

As much as I love the Maccie, you shouldn’t think too much about what you’re actually eating. About six years ago, McDonald’s therefore started a charm offensive to convince its guests that its meat really was 100% beef. But not everyone was convinced. I’ve always had my doubts about the Chicken Nuggets, because where does this chicken (?) come from?

They now want to get rid of those questions about where their food comes from and what’s in it altogether, which is why Mac has launched a new app: Map My McDonald’s. For now, it only works in England and Ireland, but it’s still very interesting.

Where does my Big Mac actually come from?

Because on that app, you can see where all of Mac’s food comes from. By that, I mean all the ingredients separately. So where they get their eggs from, where they get the beef, and so on. You can even see which farmers (including their names) they get the eggs from, so you can do a background check too—if you want to.

Yessss, more transparency

I think this deserves a little applause. The more proof that my Big Mac is made from pure ingredients, the better. But I do find it amusing that, according to Maccie, this is NOT the reason behind it. Nooo, they made this app because they think the farmers deserve to be put in the spotlight too. Because they ‘work so hard to make our products possible.’ Now, the hard work probably is true, but I have a strong suspicion that this app is mainly for all those outspoken people who insist that their meat is mostly full of junk. But anyway, it’s still an interesting app!
