Since the arrival of the Airfryer, deep-frying has been on the decline for many people. But Airfryer fans know that you can do so much more with it than make hot snacks and fries. Bas Robben is one such person. In his book Masterclass – Airfryer he shares more than 50 of his favorite recipes. From the most delicious rum cake with walnut-coconut topping to a sweet potato tarte tatin. And these simple spiced chicken breasts are also a hit.

Sometimes you don’t feel like making a fuss in the kitchen and you need something delicious that’s also ready quickly. These simple spiced chicken breasts are just the thing—they’re not only incredibly easy to make, but also very tasty. Serve them with some mashed potatoes and vegetables and you’ve got a top-notch meal, thank me later!
How to make the simple spiced chicken breasts
- To keep the chicken breast as juicy as possible, I recommend dry-brining it in the refrigerator first. Mix the salt with the fine granulated sugar in a bowl and stir well. Place the chicken breasts on a cutting board and pat them dry. Pound them slightly thinner with a meat mallet or rolling pin so that the thick part of the fillet is about as thick as the thin part (no thicker than 2 cm).
- Sprinkle them all over with the dry brine. Then place them on a plate and cover with plastic wrap.
- Brine the chicken breasts in the refrigerator for 8 to 12 hours. Before starting step 2, let them come to room temperature and then pat them dry.
- Meanwhile, mix the paprika, onion powder and garlic powder in a small bowl.
- Sprinkle the spice mixture over the fillets.
- Place the fillets in the Airfryer basket and spray a little oil over them (this is optional).
- Cook the chicken breasts for 8 minutes at 200 °C. Then let the fillets rest in the basket for 2 minutes with the drawer open.
- For the paprika butter, melt the butter in a saucepan and add the paprika. Serve the chicken breasts with the paprika butter.
Tip: Feel free to replace the spices with others, but do use powders. They burn less quickly in the Airfryer.
