feed me meat

Recipe: Snoop Stroganoff

stroganoff

Mellow out in the kitchen and give this autumn classic a ginger twist. And whatever you do: don’t drop like it’s hot. Such a waste of your stroganoff…

How to make Snoop Stroganoff:

  • Cut the steak into 3 cm cubes.
  • Peel and finely chop the onion.
  • Cut the mushrooms into small pieces. Set both aside.
  • Peel the ginger and grate two tablespoons.
  • Peel the garlic clove and cut it into thin slices.
  • Put the ginger, garlic, soy sauce, sherry and sugar in a bowl and mix well.
  • Add the steak cubes, cover, and place in the refrigerator to marinate for at least an hour.
  • While the meat is marinating, fill a cooking pot with water and bring to the boil.
  • Peel the potatoes, cut them into cubes and put them in the boiling water.
  • Lower the heat and cook for 8 minutes.
  • Drain the potatoes and keep them in a separate bowl.
  • Place a clean colander over a cooking or roasting pan.
  • Spoon the meat and marinade into the colander and let the marinade drain into the pan underneath.
  • Set the colander with the meat on a deep plate for a moment.
  • Place a large frying pan over medium-high heat and add the butter.
  • Place the pan with the marinade/sauce over low heat and bring to a simmer.
  • Put the onion and mushrooms in the frying pan with the butter and fry for 4 minutes.
  • Add the meat cubes and fry for another 3 minutes.
  • Put everything in the pan in which the marinade is simmering and season with salt and pepper.
  • Stir in the sour cream thoroughly and let it cook gently over low heat while you continue with the potatoes.
  • Take the same frying pan in which the onion, mushrooms and meat were cooked and heat the oil in it over high heat.
  • Put the potato cubes in the pan and fry for 3 minutes on all sides, or until beautifully golden brown.
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • Divide the potatoes among 4 plates, spoon the steak and sauce over them, and serve.
