Recipe: super-easy strawberry jam

You can make a jar of strawberry jam in no time, even if you don’t have any pectin at home. You shouldn’t be afraid of a touch of sugar (okay, quite a lot), but it’s not always strawberry season, so make the most of it!

Delicious on a thick slice of white-bread toast, and while we’re at it – spread a generous dollop of the best butter on it too. Crunchy toast, salty butter, fresh and sweet strawberries: this is an absolutely amaaaazing breakfast!

How to quickly and easily make fresh strawberry jam

  • Wash the strawberries and remove the tops.
  • Chop them into small pieces.
  • Put them in a pan with the sugar and lemon juice, and grate the zest of a lemon over the top.
  • Bring to the boil and simmer gently for 30–40 minutes.
  • Carefully pour into sterilised jars, screw the lids on tightly and turn them upside down.
  • Keep in the fridge overnight, pat yourself on the back the next morning, and your homemade jam is good to go!
