Ron Blaauw opens new Indonesian Gastrobar

There is no shortage of Ron Blaauw restaurants in Amsterdam, but for his fantastic Indonesian menu you really had to travel to Oudekerk. Fortunately, that will soon be a thing of the past, as Ron Gastrobar Downtown is opening in the heart of Amsterdam.

As we have come to expect from Ron and his gastrobars, the food is beautiful and refined. Still, we really go to Indonesia for the street food markets. Fortunately, that kind of food is well represented here too. Ron Gastrobar Downtown offers a great mix of fine dining and street food, so you do not have to choose.
Top-notch satay
Ages Hermawan, executive chef at the restaurant in Oudekerk, was appointed ambassador of traditional Indonesian cuisine by the Indonesian Minister of Tourism. That is no small achievement! His protégé, chef Luke Brouwer, is in charge at Downtown. So you can bet that the satay here is of excellent quality.
Just be careful not to order too much food; an after-dinner dip in this restaurant would be an absolute shame. Why? After dinner, you can keep dancing and sipping exotic cocktails here until the early hours. You do not have to worry about the entertainment either; just like the food, it is taken care of down to the last detail.
