Snackspert: “Some of the best fried chicken in the entire country”

Eke Bosman, better known as Instagram phenomenon @snackspert, ate his first frikandel as a baby, hates vlammetjes, has devoured at least 1,000 burgers in his lifetime, suspects there is more mayonnaise than blood in his body, and normally shares his best and worst snack reviews on FavorFlav every other week.

Without a doubt divine
Burner burger, Kip it Real burger and Mac ‘n Cheese, Kip it Real
Anyone who kept an eye on my Stories yesterday already knows: there’s a new gem in Amsterdam. And if you don’t live in Amsterdam, there’s now a reason to visit the city—as long as the situation allows it later on. Because I haven’t been this surprised and enthusiastic about a relatively unknown place in years. It’s called Kip It Real. Points for the pun, but in my opinion these Australian guys from Oost make some of the best fried chicken in the entire country. Really. I’ll explain it briefly: the meat is so. incredibly. tender. The meat is so. incredibly. flavourful. And the burger bun is nicely fried in butter (am I tasting herb butter there?) and is therefore so wonderfully greasy. As if you spend eight hours in bed with your loved one—and no, not because you’re reading a book together, because otherwise it wouldn’t have been such a mess. One burger (Burner) is wonderfully spicy (I detect gochujang peppers), while the other burger (Kip It Real) has a perfect balance of deliciously salted chicken, melted cheddar, caramelised onion and pickles. Yum. And then there’s that mac ‘n cheese with chicken tenders. Delicious—what heavenly macaroni. The tenders were slightly dry, but that’s the only downside to all of this. But honestly, believe me, you need to try this place as soon as possible. This is the surprise of 2020. Already. And then share it with your friends—they’ll thank you. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Gouda cheese balls, Mora

A few people had already warned me in my DMs about this party snack, Mora’s Gouda cheese balls. And my goodness, how right you were. I’ll just say it straight away: these cheese balls have nothing to do with cheese. Absolutely nothing. As if someone in the stands at a hockey match says it’s such a fantastic football game and that we’re really going to win the European Championship this year. So fake. This snack is simply faker than injected lips. The filling is more comparable to mashed potatoes, both in terms of taste and texture. It actually also makes you think of polenta. Just check my Story and you’ll see why. No, this is genuinely the worst snack I’ve ever had from Mora. I want real cheese, and I want it now. ⭐️

Hamburgers, Unox

I’ll just admit it right away: during my teenage years, I ate these Unox hamburgers every month. If not every week, even. And man, how deliciously disgusting I thought they were. Really deliciously disgusting. But now, with a few pimples and some sexual frustration less, the cliché turns out to be true: teenagers really have no idea what tastes good or bad. For the first time in years, I bought these hamburgers again and man, what sweet rubbish. What a disgusting lump of meat. There’s genuinely nothing tasty about this. The texture is really hard, the taste is so sweet I don’t even know what, and so on. Oh for fuck’s sake, while just a few metres further down the supermarket aisle there are perfectly decent own-brand burgers available. But still I wonder: how is it possible that these have been on the shelves for over 10 years? Who buys them? Those are questions that need answering, boys. This is really disgusting. ⭐️
