Snackspert’s week: “Better than a French kiss from your favorite Dutch celebrity”

Eke Bosman, better known as Instagram phenomenon @snackspert, ate his first frikandel as a baby, hates vlammetjes, has devoured at least 1,000 burgers in his life, suspects there’s more mayonnaise in his body than blood, and shares his best and worst snack reviews on FavorFlav every other week. This time from the Big Apple! (and a little bit of Schiphol)

No joke, heavenly
Burger and pizza, Emmy Squared New York
I know a game of 30 Seconds can be a lot of fun, but what if you could eat the best burger ever in New York? Then you book tickets quickly, right? A few followers recommended Emmy Squared (also better known as Emily’s, a little farther away in Brooklyn), and after reading up on this place, I knew: this could turn out really, really good. And luckily, it did. Because first of all, just look at that burger: the cheese seems to be melted just right; with every bite, you feel the soft cheese melt on your tongue, and believe me, that’s better than getting a French kiss from your favorite Dutch celebrity. The meat embraces you like that one favorite stuffed animal from your childhood, the one you held tightly before going to sleep. It’s the most tender meat I’ve ever had in a burger, and believe me, the last time I said that was in September 2017 at Teddy’s Bigger Burgers in Hawaii. So, a long time ago. I’m at a loss for words: the pretzel bun (!!!) is fantastic, the pickle on the side, the delicious chipotle-like sauce—they all make an impression. And then there’s the pizza, right? Here it comes: pizza with vodka sauce (!!!), pecorino, and basil. The vodka sauce is veeeery subtle, not overpowering, which is why it’s so heavenly. The meat is once again wonderfully tender, perfectly seasoned by the pecorino, and it has an otherworldly crust that feels like—once again—your favorite stuffed animal. If only I could give it 6 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Vegan pita and cheeseburger, Miznon New York

Yes guys, next week I’ll probably have to eat a little salad or, well, a leaf of lettuce every day because of all the amazing food here, but I certainly don’t regret it. Another highlight you have to visit in New York is Miznon in Chelsea Market. Originally from Tel Aviv, it’s also located in Paris, but what a place this is. Because what you see on the right is a cheeseburger in a pita. You read that correctly. The bread is as soft as—as a New York reviewer once described it—your favorite pillow in bed, and the meat is deliciously juicy. But what about that partly melted and partly set cheese? Just as you’d expect from a perfect grilled cheese sandwich? Man, it’s heavenly. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

And on the left you can see the vegan option: a pita filled with cauliflower, tahini, green peppers, spring onion, and tomato salsa. So the pita bread is perfect; personally, I would have liked the filling to be a little more acidic—lemon juice would have been an excellent addition, in my opinion. But besides that, it’s really, really delicious. A recommendation for our vegan friends. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Cheeseburger, McDonald’s Schiphol

Because I can imagine that nothing but New York reviews for weeks on end can get pretty annoying for some people, here’s a review that you can actually do something with in the Netherlands:
I love McDonald’s, especially the cheeseburger, but if you serve it like this, all I can do is tag @MinPres and ask whether the government can’t do something about this. ⭐️
