Godly, no joke

Spareribs, burgers and baguette with melted cheese at De Resident, The Hague

I’m not lying when I say I’ve been tipped off dozens of times in my DMs to go to De Resident in The Hague sometime. Last weekend, it finally happened. But couldn’t you have warned me? Then I would have gone five uninterrupted days without eating to make room in my stomach for this Last Supper, with not Jesus but ME in the starring role. Good heavens, my appetite was spoiled that evening, as you can see in the photo. It’s fair to ask: did you even eat all this? No, of course I couldn’t finish it. Luckily, I shared the food with someone else, but it was still too much. Don’t be sad, though: they do doggy bags here at De Resident. Thank God, because the food at De Resident is godly, no joke. No wonder it’s an institution in The Hague. The spareribs with the special salty sauce taste SO good, wonderfully tender and not too thick. It’s indescribable how delicious that spicy flavor is. The cheeseburger contains exceptionally good meat that is so wonderfully tender, with excellent melted cheese—unbelievable. And please don’t forget the baguette with melted cheese and garlic, because forgetting that is just as bad as forgetting your favorite cuddly toy on the train. I could write hundreds more words about how good this place is, but I have a feeling you believe me. Maybe a tad expensive, but in this exceptional case, absolutely worth the money. De Resident: truly an institution in The Hague. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

HEMA’s frikandel roll

Do you know that feeling when you spend hours looking for a solution to a huge problem and, once you’ve found it, mainly think: gosh, this was such an easy solution, why did I spend hours looking for it? That’s exactly how I feel every time I buy a frikandel roll. You’re hungry all day, wondering: hey, what should I get? You hesitate between an apple and a healthy bar (hahaha) and so on, and then suddenly you see it there: the frikandel roll. I can understand why there’s no world peace as long as frikandel rolls aren’t sold outside the Netherlands and surrounding areas; it’s simply the best thing there is. To my own surprise, I had never tried HEMA’s before, but luckily, it comes highly recommended. Not the best frikandel roll ever, but it’s as welcome in your mouth as a hug from your loved one when you’re sad. Frikandel roll, I love you and please never leave me or else I will burn the earth down and take Martien Meiland with me, so you have nothing left in the world, okay? ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Whoa, stop

Eyyyy showbiz people, welcome to yet another episode of Stuff Your Face with a Falafel, and this time Albert Heijn’s falafel vegetable sticks are our guests—but falafel is already a vegetable, right? Yes, this is a pleonasm. Anyway. As some of you already know, falafel is a delicious snack and vegan too, and we’ve been eating it for years! It was vegan before it was cool, you know. But hey, boys and girls and everyone else, I have to tell Albert Heijn to say HO for a moment. And not Santa’s ho ho ho, but “ho, stop.” You put this “tapas” snack in the oven for about 8 minutes and then you can serve it to your subjects. Only: it’s still as soft as butter. And so dry that you feel as if you’ve rubbed your crotch naked over the grains of sand on the beach. You know what I mean. No, I love Albert Heijn’s snacks, but this one is genuinely impossible. Skip it. ⭐️
