Star chef Soenil Bahadoer, recently named the new Eel Patron 2022, is one of my favorite chefs. The spicy chef of Restaurant De Lindehof** in Nuenen knows better than anyone how to blend Surinamese-Hindustani cuisine with classic French cuisine, resulting in unique flavor combinations.

I had already tried his dinner boxes, which he made especially for Mother’s Day together with his mother. And his petjel with bami and peanut sauce is a favorite in our home. I must have been living under a rock, because recently I suddenly came across Soenil’s products at Albert Heijn. The product line is called By Soenil and you can guess what happened: I immediately filled my cart.
For true sambal lovers
What can you buy? In total, Albert Heijn is launching 19 By Soenil products. These include Surinamese sambal with rawit peppers, Surinamese nasi mix (a quick spice mix for Surinamese nasi, including fried onions, leek and ground galangal root) and By Soenil Mild Surinamese boemboe (a spice paste for meat, fish and vegetarian dishes).
