Normally, you have to queue at Bird Thai Restaurant before you’re allowed to sit down. Understandably so, because everyone knows: this is where you go for good Thai food. Now that Bird also delivers to your home, you can enjoy a good Netflix binge at home until the delicious Thai dishes arrive. Bird is perfect for all vegetarians, because its vegetarian selection is delicious and extensive. Prefer meat? The steak salad is a favourite of FavorFlav’s Sophie. “With a Bird salad on my lap, I can imagine myself back in Thailand for a moment. You can always wake me up for Thai food, and if you feel the same way and live in Leiden… You can continue enjoying Thai cuisine at Siri Thai. Although visiting the cosy restaurant with its friendly service isn’t an option for now, fortunately they are open for delivery. Definitely try the silky-smooth Tom Kha Kai: a soup made with coconut milk, galangal and lemongrass, with chicken, mushrooms and coriander.
Fish cakes in Rotterdam
Soi3 in Roffa is known for its authentic Thai cuisine. Our favourites? Hard to choose, but here goes: the fish cakes and the Phad Thai (stir-fried noodles with dried prawns, peanuts and eggs with prawns). For takeaway, the chef currently recommends something different from what he would recommend in the restaurant. “Home delivery is extremely busy at the moment. We try to get everything out on time, but that doesn’t always work, so that’s why I say: order a curry; it stays nice and warm. And even if you eat it forty-five minutes later, the flavour remains the same. I wouldn’t recommend a noodle dish such as Phad Thai right now. Unless you pick it up, in which case it doesn’t matter.” And if you’re picking up your order, the explanation of the name Soi3 comes in handy: it means ‘third side street’, in this case the corner of West-Kruiskade and Anna Paulownastraat.
Thai vibes in Eindhoven
Spicy really means spicy at Restaurant Sala Thai in Eindhoven. You can pick up food every day, and they also deliver for orders over 50 euros. To recreate Sala Thai’s lovely, homely Thai atmosphere, you can do the following: let the sound of the sea flow through your speakers, pour yourself a matching wine and treat yourself to the tastiest Thai dishes.

The favourite Thai restaurant of FavorFlav’s Marcel Langedijk: Ton Nam Thai. “A neat little narrow restaurant with dark tones and comfortable furniture, serving better Thai food than the best I’ve eaten in the Big Cities. More refined, more authentic, spicier, and so hot that I couldn’t move my face for two days and needed a bath towel to dab away the sweat – my fault, because I had boastfully claimed that I could handle ‘a lot’ due to having been to Thailand a few times too..”
