Yep. Our editorial team is empty too. Everyone is working from home. Much less gezellig, but we’re just glad that – unlike our friends in the hospitality industry – we can actually work at all. And good news: the old familiar Friday afternoon drinks can go ahead as usual!
Yes, you read that correctly. And no, it’s not dangerous because you can simply stay safely at home. At 5:00 p.m. on Friday, a GIGA virtual drinks event will be organized. Raising a glass together online in a massive Friday afternoon drinks conference call.

Social media agency A Bigger Circle came up with the idea. ‘These are intense times, we’re all suddenly at home and, honestly, we’re worried. The #coronahelden are out every day making sure we can get back to standing in the pub on Friday as soon as possible. In the meantime, we, as “non-crucial professions,” have to keep the economy running from our home offices, kitchen tables, attics and broom closets. That’s no easy feat, especially this coming Friday afternoon. When the clock hits 5 and we all suddenly, unconsciously get dry mouths. There’s really only one thing left to do: a massive Friday afternoon drinks conference call.’
How to join
Everyone can dial in, on one condition: that at exactly 5:00 p.m. you raise a glass with everyone to the #coronahelden. From the garbage collector who makes sure we get through our quarantine hygienically, to our emergency workers and the prime minister, who are building up a world record of sleep deprivation.
The dial-in link will be shared on this Facebook page on Friday. Make sure you’re there by 4:55 p.m. at the latest and have your drink of choice ready. We’ll definitely be there!
