Nathan Myhrvold: Cooking as never seen before

In this video, author Nathan Myhrvold discusses the technical side of various cooking techniques. For example, your burgers on the barbecue don’t get that delicious smoky flavor because you grill with charcoal, but because the fat on the burger itself is charred. Want more? Watch the video here.

Dan Barber: How I fell in love with a fish

Chef Dan Barber, known among other things for restaurant Blue Hill and the famous Netflix series Chef’s Table, talks about how we can continue eating fish in restaurants. That is a challenge, because the sea is being emptied. For example, ninety percent of tuna, halibut and swordfish has already become extinct. Watch the video here.

Britta Riley: A garden in my apartment

Do you have a small house without a garden or an apartment in the city? Even then, you can grow your own vegetables and herbs . Britta Riley explains exactly how. She created a system using plastic bottles, in which she grows the crops. Watch the video here.

Joachim de Posada: Don’t eat the marshmallow

Not directly a video about food, but it is about how our brain responds to rewards. In this case, rewarding children with food. The setup is as follows: every child gets a marshmallow, but if it isn’t eaten immediately, after fifteen minutes they receive a reward of another sweet. Want to see what they choose?
