The amazing pop-up dessert restaurant De Dessertclub is back for a second edition!

De Dessertclub

A must-go for anyone with a serious sweet tooth: a restaurant where you eat nothing but desserts! At the end of July, the Netherlands’ first dessert only restaurant opened: De Dessertclub. It was fully booked within a few hours. That’s why De Dessertclub is now back for a sequel: Chapter Two. De Dessertclub will reopen its doors on 1 October.

In New York, Berlin and Bali, it’s a tried-and-tested concept: a restaurant where you can eat nothing but desserts. It didn’t exist in the Netherlands yet, but that changed with De Dessertclub. The pop-up dessert-only restaurant opened in mid-July—and since it’s a pop-up, closed again at the beginning of September. A disappointment for all dessert lovers, but now they’re coming back!

Steak made of chocolate

De Dessertclub, located at the Zwitsalterrein in Apeldoorn, offers an evening-long seven-course experience by master pastry chef Bart de Gans. Desserts only? Yes, really! Every flavour, aroma and colour makes an appearance. And sometimes you’re completely led astray. During the first edition, for example, they served a steak made of… chocolate as the main course! Thanks to the variety of flavours, you don’t feel at all as though you’re eating nothing but desserts; it really is a menu that can replace a full meal.

Best bonbon

Bart is no stranger to the world of sweet treats; he won the award for the best bonbon of 2012 and is a candidate and judge at national and international professional competitions. Master pastry chef Bart: “The desserts are by no means only sweet, but also contain plenty of savoury elements, allowing us to create the right balance throughout the evening. In our dishes, we make as much use as possible of natural sugars and sweeteners from pure ingredients. This prevents a sugar bomb and gives our guests a variety of desserts.”

Fancy it?

Bart and Maurits van der Vooren (former sous-chef at Latour* & winner of the 20th Dutch Pastry Award) are busy developing a new dessert-only menu. A seven-course experience at De Dessertclub costs € 69,50, with the option to add a wine or cocktail pairing.
