The best places for a Christmas brunch or Christmas dinner

Christmas is wonderfully festive, but unfortunately this celebration also always comes with unavoidable stress. Do you end up every year after hours of hard work in the kitchen with a burnt turkey? Or do you already go crazy at the thought of wandering through the supermarket aisles with the whole of the Netherlands? We got you covered. The following restaurants will make sure you can sit back and relax this Christmas.

Last chance
BAUT, located in the beautiful Magdalene Chapel on Spaarndammerstraat in Amsterdam, is moving (sob!) So if you want to eat at this über-cool spot one more time, this is your (last) chance. Celebrate Christmas at BAUT with a delicious, specially curated 5-, 6- or 7-course Christmas menu. All packages include an amuse-bouche and a sparkling welcome aperitif. The exact dishes are not yet known, but we’ve heard it will include things along the lines of tuna, scallop, duck, a chocolate bomb and 4 cheeses. With oysters as an additional course beforehand. You can already book your tickets, so what are you waiting for?

Royal surroundings
At the royal Hotel Des Indes in The Hague, Christmas certainly doesn’t pass quietly. The famous Des Indes Christmas tree is already shining. During the Christmas holidays, you’ll start the day with a Royal High Tea including a glass of champagne, and in the evening you can enjoy a 4- or 5-course dinner. Naturally, Santa Claus will also be there both evenings. Would you like to sleep like royalty at Christmas too? At a special Christmas rate, you can spend the night regally in one of the luxurious rooms. Be sure to reserve your spot in time.

Deliciously casual
At Foodhallen in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The Hague, there’s no stuffy fuss during the Bands & Bites Christmas Edition. Just delicious street food and singing along to the finest Christmas classics with a special Christmas cocktail in your hand. We couldn’t make it more relaxed for you.
Stars on your plate
THE DUCHESS transforms into a true Christmas Wonderland. Full of splendour and grandeur, lights, sparkles and an incredible Christmas tree. Immerse yourself in a magical world during an extensive Christmas Afternoon Tea, and above all, don’t forget to order the famous dessert Chocolate Explosion. Would you rather celebrate Christmas with a traditional dinner? Then go for the star-worthy Christmas menu. Bringing your whole family along? Or your favourite colleagues, whom you simply can’t do without even during the holidays? Then the imperial room for private dining is the ideal place for a flamboyant evening.

Bingo & burgers
Jingle all the way during the Christmas-themed bingo night on 19 December at The Butcher Social Club. With burgers, drinks and great prizes, The Butcher knows how to warm everyone up again during the cold month of December. Perfect for you and your friends as a pre-party before the official holidays. More burgers, this time on Christmas itself? Especially for the hungry reindeer among us, THE BUTCHER has a juicy Christmas burger on the menu.

Deliciously arty
In one of the oldest buildings in The Hague, you’ll find the colourful brasserie of Gallery61. Here, the chefs paint their plates with the most delicious flavours from local suppliers in The Hague. Their Master of Fine Kitchen Arts, Bas Hoog, cooks a delicious 3-course Christmas menu from Christmas Eve through Boxing Day. And, as we’ve come to expect from Gallery61, it’s made with local produce.
Jägerbingo
A cosy evening of bingo in a tropical atmosphere sounds like music to our ears! You can enjoy it in Amsterdam’s jungle: de Tulp on Marie Heinekenplein. De Tulp wouldn’t be De Tulp if they hadn’t also come up with something extra for Boxing Day. What can you expect? A tasting of small dishes inspired by Latin American cuisine. And this year, Jägerbingo will be organised for the second time. During Jägerbingo, you can expect plenty of Jägermeister, as well as great prizes. If bingo isn’t really your thing, or you simply can’t stand losing, there’s a party afterwards lasting until 03:00 to make this Christmas unforgettable.
Get some fresh air
Christmas among the Schoorl dunes—and with a bit of luck, they’ll even be covered in a beautiful white layer of snow. At hotel blooming, they have several lovely Christmas packages. Stay in one of the beautiful rooms and treat yourself to a Christmas breakfast and a 4-course dinner. Naturally, you’ll receive a festive welcome with a glass of bubbly. After that, you’ll have plenty of time to relax by the pool or get some fresh air during a walk on the beach.
Castle
This Christmas, the beautiful Château Neercanne will be transformed into an even more magnificent winter paradise. They’re pulling out all the stops with a five- or six-course lunch and dinner on 24, 25 and 26 December. Or—something special!—go for the Christmas brunch, served in the caves of the Château. Outside the Château, there’s plenty to do as well, such as the fairytale Christmas market on the Vrijthof in Maastricht or the cosy Christmas market in Liège.

Countdown to 2020
Perhaps the most beautiful place in Amsterdam to celebrate Christmas: Het Conservatorium Hotel. There are 1,500 baubles (!) hanging in the Christmas tree, and the rest of the hotel is radiating Christmas all over the place too. We went to sample the Christmas menus in advance and were over the moon. Not only because of the beautifully presented plates, but also because of what was on them. King Crab tartare, Beef Wellington, Black Cod, Wagyu beef A5… And vegetarians are also treated to something special on 24, 25 and 26 December at de Brasserie or Taiko restaurant. There are few places where you can eat truly excellent vegetarian food at a fine dining level, but this is definitely one of them. You can find a sneak peek at the menus here. And do you already have other plans for Christmas? Then take your second chance on 31 December. Dance with 500 other guests to the beats of a live DJ, with a glass of bubbly from the Veuve Clicquot Champagne Bar, and welcome 2020.

In your own home
Is the above still not relaxed enough, and would you rather stay at home in your jogging bottoms this Christmas? Thanks to chef Michael Wolf and his team, that’s possible too. They provide a bag full of ingredients, special wines, beautiful tableware and Austrian hospitality. The only thing you still have to worry about is whether it will be a 4-, 6-, 8- or 15-course menu. Oh, and whether all the presents are under the tree, of course. In December and January, Wolf on Location is offering 10% off. Bring on that carefree Christmas!
