We put together a mouth-wateringly delicious list of must-visits, from romantic restaurants to hidden gems and dream villas. And for true foodies: Sergio Herman’s favorite places are included too!

Going to Ibiza: these are the places you need to know

Oh, Ibiza! That magical island in the Mediterranean that has been attracting dreamers, free spirits and bon vivants for decades. The combination of a gentle, warm sea breeze, the red glow of the setting sun and a refreshing cocktail during a typical Ibizan sunset make for unforgettable moments. Let yourself be tempted by the list below and try out your favorite.

Amante

Located on a cliff overlooking Sol d’en Serra, this idyllic restaurant is the perfect place for a wonderfully luxurious dinner or to daydream for a while – or a little longer – with a good cocktail on the side. The menu – lunch and dinner – consists largely of Mediterranean and local dishes prepared with ingredients from its own organic garden, while various types of meat and seafood are cooked in the Josper oven. For true romantics, there’s Amante Table; Ibiza’s most fairytale-like experience, shared exclusively by the two of you. Just be sure to reserve in advance.

Nobu

The stylish five-star retreat Nobu Ibiza Bay is located far from all the hustle and bustle of Ibiza Town, on the coast of Talamanca Bay, overlooking countless bobbing boats and luxury yachts. In 1994, the very first Nobu Restaurant opened in Tribeca, New York. Since then, Nobu, under the direction of chef Nobu Matsuhisa, has grown into an international phenomenon, and this master chef has had a huge influence on the culinary scene around the world. Nobu began creating a renewed approach to fine dining, with its instinctive and unique take on flavors (Japanese-Peruvian cuisine), stylish presentation and energetic atmosphere in its restaurants. So delicious!

Mira/Gathering

MIRA/Gathering is a hidden gem in the picturesque village of San Miguel, where food, art and nightlife effortlessly blend together. What feels like a peaceful courtyard filled with light and the aromas of the kitchen during the day transforms in the evening into a lively meeting place with music, performances and a stylish atmosphere. MIRA/Gathering is not just a restaurant, but also a gallery featuring world-class contemporary art. In the kitchen, former Nobu chef Giacomo Notarbartolo surprises guests with elegant tapas that let the island speak on the plate – fresh, local and seasonal. With its intimate atmosphere, pink bar and distinctive art objects by Tai Shani, MIRA is not just a restaurant, but a place where you’ll want to linger.

Aiyanna

Whatever you’re looking for in an ideal beach day, barefoot-chic beach club Aiyanna has it all. The atmosphere is laid-back and the menu consists mainly of vegan and vegetarian dishes. The beach club proves once again that plant-based food is anything but boring. Try the delicious falafel with mint and (vegan) Greek yogurt or a fresh kale salad with unsalted cashews and pomegranate. On the beach club’s grounds you’ll also find a silver food truck serving guests delicious smoothies and fresh small bites. The ingredients Aiyanna uses in the kitchen can be found in the restaurant’s organic garden. Just steps from the beach, the open dining area and terrace have room for 100 guests. The little sister of Amante, which opened in 2017, was named by Condé Nast Traveller as one of the 21 best beach restaurants in the world for 2021. Check the website for availability.

Cotton Beach Club   

One that definitely shouldn’t be missing from this list is the luxurious Cotton Beach Club, located in bustling Ibiza Town. For years, it has been the destination of choice for island residents and holidaymakers. The famous white-clothed tables are the setting for an extensive lunch, cocktail hour or the start of a long, leisurely dinner. For the freshest and lightest fish dishes, Cotton Rawbar gives you the nearly impossible task of choosing between all the delicious options. In the mood for dancing and drinks? DJs provide the best tunes, leaving you with only one concern: which cocktail to hold in your hand.

OKU Ibiza Hotel

Laid-back luxury, indeed! Just a stone’s throw from the beautiful Cala Gracio bay, OKU Ibiza is a five-star retreat where you can enjoy Ibiza’s luxurious lifestyle. Dutch chef Mark Vaessen, also known for the now-closed SUSHISAMBA in Amsterdam, serves up the most flavorful fusion dishes from Japanese cuisine. Stay in one of the enviable private villas and start your day with a morning yoga session, then settle by one of the two swimming pools for some essential sunbathing. Dance as the sun sets to round off a perfect day. What more could you want?

Blue Marlin

A household name in Ibiza. Relax on the comfortable lounge beds while looking out over the beautiful white beach of Cala Jondal. Since May, Blue Marlin has once again been the place to be on the island. Besides being an oasis of calm during the day, it regularly hosts parties in the evenings. Cala Cracioneta

We discovered this one almost by accident when we searched the navigation for nearby beaches, but holy guacamole, what an incredibly lovely little cove. Hidden, small-scale and with a super-chill restaurant. We sat here with a large pan of mussels, happily enjoying ourselves with our feet in the sand. Tip: order a fresh coconut to enjoy on your beach bed. Absolutely delicious.

Jul’s

If colleague Kiki has anything to say about it, you won’t find anything better. Tip: the lobster risotto. And be sure to save room for dessert afterward. Also a top spot for lunch in the afternoon, by the way. And believe me: you won’t leave here without 100 photos.

Paradiso Ibiza Art Hotel

A wet dream for anyone who loves pink. This 1970s hotel, entirely in a Miami Vice-style atmosphere, is a kind of I’m a Barbie girl, in a Barbie woohoohoorld for adults. The neighborhood isn’t very nice, but the beds, shower, pool and atmosphere are absolutely amazing. We slept wonderfully and then simply got in the car to visit the lovely beaches. Tip: the half-crispy, warm brownies from room service or at little Andy’s bar. Heaven on earth.

La Paloma

I find this place truly paradise-like, and I’m not exaggerating. Not only is the restaurant worth a trip to La Paloma; the surroundings are also breathtakingly beautiful. La Paloma is located in the middle of the island, in the village of San Lorenzo. Its wonderful, relaxed vibe gives the place a comfortable, natural feel, allowing you to drift away in the magical garden. Dine among the orange trees, from fresh pasta to delicious vegan and flavorful dishes; time and again, it lives up to expectations. The menu changes every week, giving the chef the chance to work with fresh ingredients and products of the moment. This is a restaurant you’ll find on practically every list, but that’s no surprise: everyone falls in love with this place. It isn’t cheap, but you’ll soon forget that. They’re open for lunch and dinner, and personally I prefer dinner because I think it’s most beautiful here in the evening.

La Bodega

If you’re staying in Ibiza Town, this is a must-visit. Deliciously Spanish, with cheerful service and good tapas (and always mega busy). So there’s a good chance you’ll have to wait a little, but with a glass of wine or a jug of sangria at the bar, that’s no punishment. You’ll find this restaurant just outside the gate to Dalt Vila.

S’Ametller

The first time I visited Ibiza, I ate here (on friends’ recommendation), and I’ve been passing this tip on ever since. I was served by the owner, who was so friendly and sweet. The food was exceptionally good and affordable; I wish him a completely full restaurant every evening. This is especially recommended if you don’t feel like tapas for a change, as they serve a multi-course menu every evening.

Sunset Ashram

Located among the sandy beaches of Cala Conte, Sunset Ashram has been an iconic place to watch the sunset for years. The restaurant space features Balearic DJs who know exactly how to enhance the atmosphere with their beats. Besides the magical view, relaxed atmosphere and mood-enhancing beats, the menu won’t disappoint either. If you want more than just an ice-cold cocktail, they serve Asian fusion dishes to share.

Cala Bonita

Lunch, dinner, wine, cocktails… Everything here is a pleasure. It’s no longer a well-kept secret, as the crowds discovered this hotspot in Ibiza several years ago, but that doesn’t spoil the fun. I personally love touring around this island, and a visit to the beach at s’Estanyol – and therefore Cala Bonita – is a must.

Babylon Beach Bar

Confession: I’m not a big fan of lying on the beach. Yes, I know, it sounds very strange, but it really doesn’t make me happy. Hanging out at a beach bar, on the other hand, does make me very happy. And if I can get a spot, in Ibiza I prefer to do so at Babylon Beach Bar.

Patchwork

Overlooking the shimmering water and the old town of Ibiza, you’ll find the gastronomic destination Patchwork. Patchwork is the first and only Lebanese restaurant on the white island. At this colorful restaurant, enjoy fantastic shared-dining dishes from Lebanese cuisine. Try the lentil salad or eggplant caviar, for example, or share a mixed platter with various vegan and vegetarian bites. Guests can indulge in culinary delights here until 03:00 at night, with lights and candles creating an intimate, romantic atmosphere on the rooftop terrace. Ooh la la!

Nº74 L’atelier Ibiza

A refreshing change from all the tapas, sangria and cocktails. I can’t pronounce the name in Spanish, but I can tell you that you’ll want to come here. Besides a restaurant, this spot also has a little shop that will make you intensely covetous. The menu has a bit of everything, but especially lots of healthy options. This is also highly recommended with kids; activities are often organized for them. If you’d like to take a workshop yourself (such as leatherworking), they offer those here too. Fun!

Finca La Plaza

For a night of fine dining, this is exactly the right place. It has an incredibly beautiful courtyard (at night, very romantic…) and a menu that will make your mouth water (steak tartare! Burrata!).

Bambuddha

Hidden among swaying bamboo and silent stone statues, Bambuddha feels more like a spiritual hideaway in Goa than a restaurant in Ibiza. For more than twenty years, it has been an iconic place on the island, where romantic dinners, festive evenings and everything in between come together effortlessly. You’d better pull that credit card out of your wallet, because this will cost you, but you really do get something for it. The restaurant is a picture to behold, and the food is equally impressive. It’s a combination of Mediterranean and Asian cuisine, and it works incredibly well. The sushi rolls, dumplings, bao… Sooooo delicious.

La Oliva

A restaurant that is always a pleasure to visit, right in the middle of Ibiza Town’s old quarter (Dalt Vila). This street is always incredibly lively in the evening, and even though it’s surrounded by other restaurants, this one remains the absolute standout for me. Don’t expect tapas here, but do expect delicious pasta and antipasti. A nice change of pace.

Cala Escondida

Those who get the most enjoyment from charming, no-nonsense bars can head to Cala Escondida. Surrounded by rocks, to the left of Sunset Ashram, you’ll find Ibiza’s most environmentally conscious and sustainable beach bar. The roof is made of palm leaves and solar panels to provide shade throughout the day. At the little bar, you can get delicious cocktails. The accompanying bites are simple, but no less tasty for it. Wander in casually without a reservation and enjoy the sunset, accompanied by drummers for that typical Ibiza feeling.

Salvia Restaurant

This restaurant belongs to the Ca Na Xica hotel (see above), so it’s also a great idea to stay there when you’re enjoying an evening of fine dining here. It isn’t in the big city or by the sea; it’s a true oasis of peace and quiet. A wonderful place to let yourself be pampered.

Little Ibiza

If you get lost in Ibiza Town and accidentally end up in the less appealing part, chances are you’re somewhere nearby. HAHA. No, it’s not the most authentic neighborhood, but this is genuinely a nice café for lunch or a drink. The food is good, it’s not mega expensive, and you can sit comfortably with a view of the sea.

La Scala

This one absolutely can’t be missing from the list. It’s no unknown to regular Ibiza visitors, but I always enjoy coming here. Judging by the website, you might not expect much (HAHA, is it really from the year 1900?), but don’t let that put you off, because this restaurant is absolutely worth trying. You’ll find La Scala in the middle of Dalt Vila, in a quiet spot, and it’s perfect for a romantic date night.

7Pines 

A holiday tradition in Ibiza is watching the sultry red sunset sink into the Mediterranean Sea. The most beautiful place to do this is 7Pines Resort, high on the cliffs of Ibiza’s west coast, overlooking the Balearic Sea and the mysterious, uninhabited island of Es Vedrà. Extra fun: this summer (2025), there’s a culinary pop-up from Amsterdam restaurant Nela.

Los Enamorados

In the very north of Ibiza, near Portinatx, you’ll find this restaurant, which is worth the trip alone. It’s part of a hotel, so staying overnight is practically a must. The atmosphere is completely different from, for example, Ibiza Town, and I find that contrast particularly enjoyable. A wonderful place to unwind and enjoy the view.

Gare du Nord

A very lovely, charming and beautiful boutique hotel that is also remarkably affordable. Plus: it has a bistro and wine bar. You’ll find this hotel in the north of the island, just below Portinatx. Ideal for a road trip if you’re heading this way.

Ocean Drive Talamanca

Close to Ibiza Town (about a 30-minute walk to the center), I found this hotel excellent value for money. There are very comfortable beds, a lovely pool and plenty of space. It also has a rooftop bar, which I always consider a plus.

NH Collection Ibiza

NH Collection Ibiza has opened its doors in the Balearics for the first time. The hotel is located in the heart of Ibiza Town, just a few minutes’ walk from the lively marina, famous nightlife and the old town of Dalt Vila, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With just 38 rooms – many offering views of the sea or old town – it offers a mix of tranquility, comfort and urban energy. And you can choose from three very different dining spots: SLVJ Ibiza, with bold Japanese flavors and a touch of nightlife; the airy Rhino Bar by the pool; and Arrogante, an Italian trattoria open 24 hours a day.

The Giri Café

North of Ibiza, in the idyllic village of San Juan, lies The Giri Café. The restaurant is housed in a 300-year-old manor and has a beautiful designer interior. In the dreamy, sun-drenched courtyard garden you’ll find beautiful flowers, berries, herbs and vegetables that are incorporated into the menu. Share the hummus with homemade pita bread or a delicious falafel burger with tahini, cucumber and freshly picked tomato. Dine at sunlit tables or in the lounges when you’ve had enough of the hot sun.

Can Caus

“An important place for me as a chef. At Can Caus, they make their own cheeses and sausages, and everything I’ve tasted from them so far has been delicious. They also sell beautiful olive oil and simple but good wine. And if you don’t feel like cooking yourself, they also have a restaurant where you can eat very well.” 

Mercat Nou 

“Whenever we’re in town, I always go to this covered market. You literally find everything you need to cook from this book. I always buy a few bottles of caldo here for paella; it’s excellent.”

Pescadería Sant Joan de Labritja 

“A small and charming fish shop in an old village. The selection is limited, but everything there is top quality. Beautiful octopus, wonderfully fresh shellfish. I first see what they have and only then decide what I’m going to make.”

Bar Anita 

“The most authentic bar in Ibiza is located in the heart of Sant Carlos. If you’re in the area, you should definitely stop by for an aperitif and a tapa, even if only because time here seems to have stood still since the 1970s.”

Es Torrent

“The very first time I came to Ibiza, I was completely unprepared. I had no idea where to go, let alone where to eat. Through the owner of the hotel where I was staying, I ended up at Es Torrent. It was my first dining experience in Ibiza, and it’s still my favorite place. The route there alone: you drive down a mountain and see a small bay, the sea, the beach and that idyllic terrace in the distance. And then the food: you call ahead to let them know what you want to eat, but whatever you order, the fish is incredibly fresh, everything is refined and just as simple as it is flavorful. I’ve been coming here for 21 years now and it’s still my favorite place on the island. I regularly have lunch here and, whenever possible, stay all afternoon: because if there’s one ultimate sobremesa spot in Ibiza, it’s Es Torrent.”

Camí de Balafia 

“In this grill restaurant run by three sisters, you sit in a beautiful garden. Everything from their grill is delicious, but I actually mainly come for their huge bowls of tomato salad with sweet onion. So simple, but so delicious that no other salad can compare. Also very tasty: their potato slices with aioli. The latter is made with hand-chopped garlic.”

Bar Costa 

“At this classic spot, you eat the most delicious Ibérico ham. Everything is still exactly as it used to be, and that’s precisely what makes it so special.”

Restaurant Can Pilot 

“Friendly, authentic and always full of locals. At Can Pilot, everything is grilled over an open fire. I’ve been coming here for years, and nothing has changed all that time – and thankfully so.”

Somm wine shop 

“Santa Gertrudis is one of the most beautiful villages in Ibiza. It’s full of lovely little shops and restaurants. Whenever I’m there, this wine shop is a regular stop.”

Bar Can Mestre 

“Every morning I make a special trip to the village for ensaimadas. These spiral-shaped sweet yeast pastries originally come from Mallorca, but nowadays you see them throughout Spain. They’re a bit like the pastries of the Balearics; many little supermarkets sell them too. The flavor may not be particularly special and you can even taste the yeast quite clearly, but the magic for me lies in the texture. The dough is extremely light and fluffy. Incidentally, not everyone agrees about the origin of ensaimadas. So it’s not entirely certain whether they have Arab or Jewish origins. There are also stories about the use of lard in the recipe: this supposedly began when the Spanish Church enforced the use of pork products as part of the expulsion of Jews and Arabs. Fortunately, the taste of ensaimadas is far more neutral than their history. I eat mine in the morning at Bar Can Mestre in Es Cubells. Always according to a set ritual: first I do my grocery shopping and then order a café cortado. I always have an ensaimada with it. It doesn’t get any simpler, but I don’t know a better way to start the day.”

There are plenty of VIPs to spot in Ibiza’s popular beach bars, but where do they actually sleep? Chances are they rent a villa through Deliciously Sorted, a high-end concierge agency that arranges everything – yes, even live butterflies or a Hermès cake – for the rich and famous. If you’re going to set fire to your credit card, these are our favorite luxury villas for your bucket list.

Fincadelica

Fincadelica is a traditional 300-year-old finca hidden in the north of Ibiza. Alongside nine spacious suites, a large saltwater pool, dedicated fitness and wellness spaces, perhaps the best feature is this: a cave where you can throw parties. The interior and exterior form an eclectic whole with a nod to the 1970s. Designer pieces alternate with natural textures and earthy colors. Once the suitcases are unpacked, you can drive to the hidden Cala Xarraca in ten minutes, where a caseta varadero – a traditional boathouse – belongs exclusively to Fincadelica. The five-meter motorboat is included!

Sa Calma

Sa Calma overlooks the sea and is located in Vista Alegre, close to the beaches of Cala Jondal, Es Torrent and Es Cubells – perfect if you love the beach. You can leave your brain at home, because you don’t have to think about anything here – the staff takes care of it for you. Staff, you say? Yep. Sa Calma comes with a chef and sous-chef, house manager, cleaners, waiter, security guard, maintenance worker, gardeners and a driver for the Range Rover. What luxury.

Can Ted

This breathtaking villa sits on one of Ibiza’s highest mountains, giving you beautiful panoramic views over the sea from Salinas to Cala D’Hort. Can Ted is surrounded by pine forest, where you can take lovely morning walks before enjoying your coffee on one of the terraces. Then dive straight into the infinity pool or the sea – the beach is an eight-minute drive away. Want to party? You can drive to Ibiza Town in thirty minutes. Prefer to chill at the villa? Pick a fun film and sink back in front of the outdoor screen for a cinema experience under the stars.

Ca Na Xica

Ca Na Xica is close to the road between Ibiza Town and San Josep and a short drive from the beaches of Cala Jondal, Es Torrent and Es Cubells. It accommodates fourteen guests; four rooms are in the main building and three rooms are in a guesthouse, which can also be rented separately. The guesthouse also has its own private pool, in addition to the 25-meter natural-water pool. Prefer some bubbles? Step into the jacuzzi and enjoy the surrounding nature with a glass of wine in hand.

Can Mimosa

Can Mimosa is exactly the kind of villa you find in international design magazines. American style is blended with the typical Ibizan bohemian atmosphere, making Can Mimosa a wonderful destination. The villa is surrounded by tropical gardens and features an outdoor cinema, ping-pong table, foosball table and fitness room. Cool off in the pool or in the Mediterranean Sea; the popular beaches on the south coast are just a short drive away. Ibiza Town center isn’t far either. This may well be the perfect hideaway in Ibiza.

Estudio Laterna

And one final tip: hidden in the peaceful village of Santa Gertrudis is one of Ibiza’s most remarkable places: Estudio Laterna. This public sculpture garden is accessible year-round and feels like a small oasis of silence and beauty. Around an old fig tree, paths wind between ornamental grasses, sculptures and seating areas where you can comfortably open a book or simply recover from the hustle and bustle of Ibiza.
