The Christmas Allerhande is out: where is the dessert on the cover?!

In December, Christmas recipes come flying at us from all directions. One of the bibles every year is the Christmas edition of Allerhande. I spotted it on the shelf again and immediately made a discovery. Where is the Christmas dessert that normally always appears on the cover?! It turned out I wasn’t the only one confused. More shocked reactions appeared on Allerhande’s Instagram.

The cover of the Christmas Allerhande is unveiled every year with great fanfare on the socials. There’s almost drumroll underneath the videos. Any true Allerhande fan waits in suspense for the announcement. What spectacular dessert have they come up with this year? But this year, fans can wait until the cows come home. The 2023 cover features no dessert at all.
No grand dessert on the cover
So what is on it? A Christmas wreath with salmon. Admittedly, it looks dazzling. Colourful, with attention to detail: you almost want to eat the cover. But it isn’t a dessert. And that has caused some disappointment here and there. ‘No dessert this time!’, ‘No dessert… Guess I’ll have to choose one myself’, ‘Oops, I don’t think that would be such a success as a dessert’ and ‘That really looks like Christmas!! Shame there’s no grand dessert on the cover’ are a few of the disappointed reactions.
One person even pointed out that this means the tradition—the tradition of recreating the Christmas cover of Allerhande—can’t continue this year. ‘I won’t be recreating the Christmas cover this time. I’ll have to think of something myself as well,’ someone wrote. Well, it just goes to show: the Christmas edition of Allerhande is quite something.
Allerhande alternative
Fortunately, the vast majority of the reactions are positive. Many fans turn out to be quick to adapt and still choose to recreate the cover. For those who find it harder to choose something themselves, Allerhande recommends the lime-cake wreath with cranberry-blueberry ice cream on page 6. Just as beautiful as the salmon wreath on the cover—only it isn’t displayed on the front of the magazine.
Well, change is good for us too, right? And I can already give you a little tip: there’s (once again) a whole lot of deliciousness in this year’s edition.
