The easiest (and tastiest) recipes for a barbecue evening

Barbecue evenings: as far as we’re concerned, they can never last long enough. But what we’re not waiting for are difficult recipes that take up half our evening. As crazy as we are about grilling… we also want to chill. And that’s definitely going to work with these 3 super-simple yet super-delicious BBQ recipes. Go ahead and light that barbecue!

Glazed salmon (about 15 minutes)
The ultimate tip if you’re looking for BBQ dishes that are ready in next to no time: choose fish. Little work and little time, but lots of flavour. Especially if you go for this glazed salmon. With just 2 ingredients – yes, really. Here’s what you need for 4 people:
- 4 pieces of salmon with skin (about 500 grams)
- 150 ml Asian marinade
- 1 pastry brush
How to make it
- Prepare the barbecue and make sure it is around 200 degrees.
- Place the salmon fillets skin-side down on the grill and brush them with the marinade. Grill the pieces for about 10 to 12 minutes, brushing them with the marinade every 2 minutes. The salmon does not need to be turned. Make sure the lid is closed between brushing.
- Use a spatula to remove the fillets from the barbecue. The skin should be crispy and the salmon still soft and pink inside.

Halloumi skewers with pesto (about 15 minutes)
Do you have vegetarian guests at your BBQ party? Or do you fancy something different from fish or meat for a change? These halloumi skewers with courgette and pesto are the shining stars of your vegetarian BBQ. Here’s what you need for 4 people:
- 1 courgette
- 4 skewers
- 200 grams of halloumi (1 pack)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 4 tbsp green pesto
- cheese slicer
How to make it
- Light the barbecue. Use the cheese slicer to shave 8 long slices from the courgette. Cut the courgette slices into 2-cm pieces.
- Stack 3 courgette slices on top of each other and thread them onto a skewer. Alternate the courgette with a piece of halloumi.
- Brush the skewers with the olive oil and grill them on the hot barbecue for 5 minutes until golden brown. Place the skewers on a dish and drizzle with the pesto.

Tomahawk steak (about 25 minutes)
A tomahawk steak: it sounds like the real BBQ deal. But the funny thing is that it really doesn’t take that much work to prepare. Nor does it take much time, because it’s on your plate within 25 minutes. Here’s what you need for 4 people:
- 1 tomahawk steak (about 1.2 kg)
- 1 long barbecue tong
- aluminium foil
How to make it
- Bring the temperature of the barbecue to about 250 degrees.
- Make sure the tomahawk is at room temperature. Season the meat with herbs of your choice, but not with pepper. Pepper burns too quickly when it comes into contact with the charcoal.
- Carefully blow the ash off the glowing charcoal. Place the tomahawk directly on the charcoal and grill the meat for about 8 to 10 minutes. Turn it halfway through using the barbecue tongs.
- Remove the meat from the charcoal, wrap it loosely in aluminium foil and let it rest for 15 minutes.
- First cut the meat away from the bone and then into thin slices, sprinkle with (freshly ground) pepper and serve.
