The Easter eggs are already back in stores

Surely things can’t get any crazier? Christmas has only just left, and Easter eggs are already back on the shelves.

Action is particularly early this year—or should we say last year: the Easter eggs were already in stores on December 31. AD spoke to spokesperson Yvette Mol: “In the first week, all the spring items are delivered to the stores,” which is why the shop has Easter bunnies and chocolate eggs on the shelves. “We go from one seasonal celebration to the next. The Christmas items are gradually replaced by Easter products.”
End of April
Okay, understandable in itself. Still strange, considering that this year we won’t celebrate Easter until the end of April. That’s four months away. It’s somewhat comparable to the gingerbread cookies that could already be found in supermarkets in August 2018.
People have mixed reactions to the Easter eggs; here’s what some Twitter users had to say:
Hang die eieren in je boom en gebruik een kip als piek! Ben je in ieder geval op tijd!

Jawel. In Groot-Brittannië lagen ze er al vóór de kerst. Op 20 december bij de SPAR. pic.twitter.com/WkK8dLIHly

Crazy English people
Our neighbors were even earlier. Easter eggs in stores a few days before Christmas already: that’s pretty bizarre. Albert Heijn, Jumbo and HEMA are waiting a little longer; they don’t have any Easter products on the shelves or on their websites yet.
