The famous French Ladurée goes vegan!

When I go to Paris, it’s a must: buying macarons at the famous Ladurée. The gorgeous box from this pastry jeweller alone… And then the unboxing can begin: wonderful! And this now applies to vegans too, because Ladurée is launching vegan macarons tomorrow.

Every day, 15,000 macarons roll over the counter at the French patisserie Ladurée. (And yes, they’re ridiculously expensive, but also genuinely fantastically delicious.) But never before have there been vegan varieties among them. Until now!
Two new vegan macarons
The 158-year-old Ladurée will sell two new flavours at its Paris locations: the rich Peruvian chocolate macaron made with 70% cacao and the sweet coconut caramel macaron.

With coconut oil and soy milk
To create a plant-based macaron that tastes just as divine as the classic macaron, Ladurée’s pastry chefs used a mixture of coconut oil, sunflower oil and soy milk. Hazelnut milk, almond milk and millet replace cream and butter to make a vegan ganache for the chocolate macaron.
Plant-based macarons
Ladurée is not the first to offer vegan macarons, by the way. During VeggieWorld, Europe’s largest international veggie fair, visitors were able to sample vegan macarons from Smaakaron last month, macarons developed using potato protein.
