The world’s first non-alcoholic gin and tonic is coming to the Netherlands

We already had non-alcoholic gin: Seedlip, GinSin and Herbie. But convenience is king, so there is also a non-alcoholic gin and tonic: The Duchess. And it is now being launched in the Netherlands too.

If you love the taste of a refreshing gin and tonic but aren’t drinking alcohol for a while — because you’re the designated driver, Muslim, pregnant or simply don’t want to — then The Duchess could be just what you’re looking for. The virgin G&T is made from distilled juniper berries (as they also do with gin) and tonic water, flavoured with flowers, herbs and plants. It is sweetened with plant-based sweeteners and, according to the makers, contains four times less sugar than a regular tonic.
Flavours
The gin and tonic comes in three different flavours. Botanical has flavours of orange peel, clove, cardamom and star anise. Then there is the floral variety, flavoured with primrose, citrus blossom and honeysuckle. Finally, there is greenery, with flavours of cucumber, rosemary and lime leaves.
The botanical will be available in six-packs on the shelves at AH from 1 June; the floral and greenery varieties will follow later in the year.
