You may already have seen or read something about the incredibly festive latest edition of the FavorFlav Food Top 100 (watch the aftermovie here!). A wild affair with 100 nominees: all movers and shakers in the Dutch food world, seriously amazing food and glass after glass of delicious wines at the table. But of course it all began with a cheerful drinks reception featuring Champagne from Castelnau.
And how great it was that we could provide all the guests with plenty of champagne upon arrival and throughout the evening. Importer Cordier was the driving force behind the champagne bar on arrival at the wonderful terrace of Baro in Amsterdam, and believe us; with a glass of bubbles in hand, everyone was instantly in the mood.

It was very fine champagne indeed. Perhaps you already know this premium champagne house: Castelnau, founded in 1916 and named after a heroic general from the First World War. At Castelnau, cellar master and winemaker Elisabeth Garcelot is at the helm, and she has an incredibly refined nose for what makes good champagne. She lets the bottles mature in the cellars for longer than is customary in the Champagne region, resulting in complex, powerful champagnes that are ready to be drunk NOW. Yes, really, NOW, and once that’s been said, we need very little further encouragement.
A variety for every occasion
Castelnau Champagne comes in several varieties. There’s a beautiful Blanc de Blancs, created in collaboration with another female cellar master; Carine Bailleut. There’s a smooth, friendly Brut, a special Millésime, and, when you really want to go all out, a very special Hors Categorie.

All top champagnes, and even writing this makes me nostalgically think back to that crazy fun evening just a week and a half ago, to which importer Cordier contributed so festively.
