Next leven vegan nuggets, Lidl
Next Level Nuggets. A bold name from the manufacturer, but in my opinion these vegan nuggets, now available at Lidl, deserve the award for being boldly good. Love it. Yes guys, we really have to admit it: in 2020, there are simply vegetarian(vegan) nuggets that taste just like those from, for example, McDonald’s, and there is ab-so-lute-ly nothing wrong with that. And now Lidl is joining in too, which I applaud, because these are very good nuggets. Made with, among other things, rice flour and wheat protein, and despite those ingredients, they remind me incredibly much of chicken. I do think the nuggets are really too thin, but the two accompanying trays of sauce (!!!!) make up for a lot. Nicely salty, good, firm but also sturdy texture, absolutely top-notch. I genuinely like these better than those from the well-known fast-food chain. And that says a lot, a lot. Well done Lidl. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Polderbal sandwich from Slagerij Vet, Amsterdam
It had really been a long time since I got a sandwich in our capital city, but fortunately this month it was time for one from Slagerij Vet on the Zeedijk in Amsterdam. You know, that one Zeedijk sandwich that was absolutely banging. But I have another one for you, if you like variety: the Polderbal sandwich. Really the kind of sandwich you finish in a minute and then wonder: where did the sandwich go? It is genuinely delicious, so easy to pop into your mouth. The minced meat is wonderfully soft, the satay sauce could have been spicier but meets all the other requirements, so actually I am not complaining too much. Such a delicious snack when you are in the city centre and need to eat quickly, because you have an appointment on the Red Light District—uh, with a colleague—in fifteen minutes. Go for it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Bitterballen, La Trappe
If you are ever held up and they say ‘your bitterballen or your life’, make sure you have these La Trappe bitterballen with you, because then you will definitely be the last one laughing. Let me admit it straight away: these are the nastiest bitterballen I have ever eaten in my life. The ragout filling is partly made with La Trappe Quadrupel beer (10% alcohol) and is supposed to provide a delicious speciality-beer flavour, but guys, delicious + delicious does not necessarily equal delicious. Although they are BITTERballen, this is the most bitter snack I have ever had in my mouth—even more bitter than your angry ex, so to speak. I would rather watch the lost World Cup final between the Netherlands and Spain twelve times in a row than have to eat this again. Seriously, do yourself a favour and curse these snacks off the shelves. Disgusting, man. ⭐️
