These might just be the most extraordinary al fresco dinners—and you can go

Because after 2020, when all our plans went up in smoke due to coronavirus, it looks like the fantastic traveling concept Outstanding in the Field will go ahead again this year—with the best news for us being that it will also be stopping in England this year. And hopefully, you’ll soon be able to go there! So what can you expect?
A spectacular experience
In 1999, American Jim Denevan wanted to offer a radical alternative to the traditional experience of dining out. Rather than bringing ingredients from a particular place—such as a farm or the sea—to a restaurant, he wanted to bring the ‘restaurant’ to that place, making the connection with where your food comes from more tangible.
This also allowed him to put the people at the origin of your dinner—the farmers, fishermen, winemakers, brewers, cheesemakers and many others—in the spotlight right there on site. So he launched this traveling restaurant, which disappears again every night and offers a temporary but intense celebration of togetherness and connection.

Finally within reach
The concept has now been hugely popular for more than twenty years, and you can sign up for dinners in America, South Africa and Europe. Tickets for this year’s dinners at 77 (!) different locations are reportedly selling like hot cakes, even though the tables really are as long as a small street…
Two dinners will take place in England this year, so you can simply hop on a train and be there in a few hours! One dinner will take place in beautiful Cornwall on the south coast, and the other at a secret location in London. For around two hundred euros, you can buy a ticket for the dinner, including the finest wines—and if there’s one thing we’re willing to believe, it’s that this incredible experience is more than worth it.
