Ricus Gerhardus Verkade opened his first factory in Zaandam in 1886. To honor Verkade’s heritage, the Zaans Museum at the Zaanse Schans has a Verkade Pavilion featuring the Verkade Experience. One thing you definitely shouldn’t skip is the museum shop. Here you’ll find all kinds of products inspired by Verkade cookies and chocolate.
Verkade jewelry
Especially for the Zaans Museum, Utrecht-based jewelry studio All Things We Like created a collection of handmade pins, rings, and earrings inspired by Verkade’s iconic cookies. From my personal favorite, Cafe Noir, to Maria, Croqutte, and Petit Beurre. All made from recycled acrylic. The pins cost €12.50, the stud earrings €14.99, the drop earrings €19.99, and a ring costs €14.99.
Chocolate letters too
But there’s more deliciousness: Rotterdam toy design studio Makii designed enamel pins for the Zaans Museum inspired by Verkade’s iconic chocolate letters. The result is seventeen letters of the alphabet. Decorate your bag or jacket with these Verkade chocolate letters featuring hazelnut, sprinkles, and white chocolate.
