These restaurants have been named Best Vegan Hospitality Businesses
The Vegan Awards 2023 have been presented once again. Vegan innovations, initiatives and entrepreneurs could walk away with a coveted Vegan Award. One of the categories was Best Vegan Hospitality Business. Which vegan restaurants took home the prize this year?
This is already the fourteenth time the Vegan Awards have been presented. The Dutch Association for Veganism organizes them every year. A professional jury from the association selected the nominees, but ultimately the public has the deciding vote. This year, that public consisted of 12,500 voters. Which vegan restaurant was their firm favorite this year? In the end, there were 2 winners. One won in the Northern Netherlands category, and one in the Southern Netherlands category.
Winner Northern category: Wit-Lof
The honor of best vegan restaurant in the north went to restaurant Wit-Lof: the very, very first vegan restaurant on Texel. Wit-Lof is owned by the same people as Strandpaviljoen Twaalf, on the same island. At Wit-Lof, they dare to experiment with vegan products. The chefs draw inspiration from Asian fusion cuisine, especially that of Tel Aviv. All while almost everything on your plate is wonderfully local. Creative, unconventional and simply incredibly delicious, all in a lovely atmosphere. You might as well book that crossing to Texel now!
Winner Southern category: Het Ministerie van Geluk
In the Southern category, Het Ministerie van Geluk from Zoetermeer was the big winner. (In case you were wondering: the boundary was drawn at Utrecht, which is why Zoetermeer was also included in this category.) Het Ministerie van Geluk is not only a restaurant, but also a food truck and caterer. You can therefore have their vegan creations brought to you as well. What do you get? A lovely mix of fine-dining dishes and comfort food. Plant-based dishes you could frame like paintings, as well as the most delicious crunchy vegan bitterbal, for example. That mix—plus the delightful seventies meets Hollywood interior—is what led the public to crown Het Ministerie van Geluk the resounding winner of the south.
