When our FavorFlav chef Rosah van Schendelen told me a while ago that she had a new side job at ‘a new app where you can order nothing but delicious things’, she immediately had my attention. The app wasn’t live yet, so I had to be patient for a little longer. Something about good things coming to those who wait, along with a whole lot of convenience, because Crisp went live last week and I can already say this about it: it’s the app you didn’t know you needed.

Delivered to your home the next day

Crisp is an online supermarket that delivers good, delicious food without any detours and makes a celebration of it. The products are fresh, seasonal and well-priced because they are sourced directly from small producers and growers who know exactly what they’re doing. Delivery is available throughout the Netherlands, six days a week, and orders placed before 10 p.m. are delivered to your home the next evening within a 1-hour time slot.

The ultimate drinks board

You can use Crisp for all your groceries; the company delivers fresh products from more than two hundred suppliers throughout the Netherlands. From mussels from the Neeltje Jans family business to sausage rolls from Brabant baker Remco Beekman and brownies from Jordy’s Bakery in Rotterdam.

On a lazy Friday evening, I put together the perfect drinks board in no time. A selection from my order: mushroom pesto, meatloaf, Comté, mature cheddar, reblochon, a huge bunch of juicy red grapes, duck pâté with red port, spianata, coppa and salame finnocchiona, and I could go on for a while. Okay, there was also a bag of caramel-sea salt peppernuts, but that happened completely naturally. The next day, I had everything in the house by around lunchtime, easy does it.

Best croissants ever

As an extra treat, I found two bake-at-home croissants in my order. Nice that they do that, I thought, but not something I would quickly order myself. Rarely have I made such a major error in judgement, because my god, those croissants were good. They came out of the oven twice as large and incredibly crispy. They also passed the crumb test with flying colours – absolutely everything was covered. In short: the discovery of the year. Long live bake-at-home croissants! And Crisp! You can download the app via crisp.nl.
