This hotel has a rosé robot that brings wine straight to your room

Some inventions seem to have been specially designed for coronavirus times, but they haven’t. Take those sensor-operated hand soap dispensers or, uh, automatic sliding doors, for example. We’ve all had them for ages. They’re just damn handy and are proving especially useful right now. Or take this social-distance-proof robot, which brings rosé to your hotel room!

Disney classic waiting to happen

And do you know what it’s called? Rosé the Robot! Okay, maybe not the most original name, but sometimes the simple names stick best, right? I can already picture an animated franchise in which Rosé the Robot helps solve (first world) problems film after film with its tireless delivery skills and the most delicious rosé…

The robot can also bring snacks, towels and toiletries to the rooms of guests who prefer to keep their distance from staff, and it is disinfected after every delivery.

Futuristic drinks

For now, the robot only rolls through the corridors of Hotel Trio in California, right in the middle of Sonoma wine country. We should all be extremely careful about travelling anyway, but it could well be that a robot like this one—which can effortlessly navigate in and out of elevators and through corridors—will become a very useful and more commonplace hospitality assistant in the future.

So after coffee drones, the rise of fantastic delivery meals and the downright amazing resilience the hospitality industry has shown in making businesses coronavirus-proof, this may well be the next step in the new socially distanced hospitality industry… In the Netherlands, people are already experimenting extensively too!
