This Is the Rolls-Royce of Honey
The Rolls-Royce factory in Great Britain announced that its yields this year are unprecedentedly high. No, not in car production, because that has come to a complete standstill due to coronavirus measures. So what’s going on?
On the grounds surrounding Rolls-Royce’s headquarters in Goodwood, in southern England, 250,000 bees are buzzing around. Six wooden beehives stand on the grounds, among the trees and shrubs, and fields full of wildflowers. The company started beekeeping in 2017 to emphasize how important sustainability is to them. With its environmentally friendly buildings and advanced systems for collecting and using rainwater, Goodwood is already one of the most sustainable car companies in Great Britain. We’ll simply ignore, for the occasion, the fact that it’s only a mile or two as the crow flies from a racetrack.

Each beehive is named after a Rolls-Royce model: the phantom stands next to the ghost, the cullinan and the dawn. And do the bees make delicious honey? According to the company itself, it’s the Rolls-Royce of honey—the finest clear honey in existence. Unfortunately, the jars aren’t for sale, unless you buy a car along with them: the honey is given as a gift to valued customers.
