This is why you should always ask for your receipt at McDonald’s
Apparently, it still exists: a McDonald’s hack that is completely new to me. I thought I knew them all by now, but no. Admittedly, this ‘hack’ comes from the United Kingdom, so I still need to put it to the test to see whether it applies in the Netherlands too.
I came across this hack on the online forum Quora, where an anonymous user asked for the very best McDonald’s hacks. And the most popular answer was one I didn’t see coming: why you should always ask for the receipt with your order.
‘Gapbuster Times’
A McDonald’s employee from the United Kingdom replied as follows: ‘We have two periods of Gapbuster Times every day; that’s between 12 and 2 in the afternoon and between 5 and 7 in the evening. During these times, we employees are extra vigilant, because those are the times when the Gapbusters come by. These are mystery shoppers who are paid to eat at our restaurants and share their experience.’
‘This experience is then shared with all the branches and the managers, who do everything they can to ensure that their final rating is as good as possible. Fortunately, it’s easy for us to spot a Gapbuster, because they always ask for the receipt (as they have to claim their expenses). So that’s why we always prepare their order fresh when a receipt is requested.’
Again: I have no idea whether it works the same way in the Netherlands (perhaps a McDonald’s employee here can provide some insider information?), but I’m definitely going to try this. Well, I’ll gladly seize any excuse to visit McDonald’s again, of course.
