The restaurant Rosetta, in Mexico City, should be on everyone’s bucket list. Why? Because its chef, Elena Reygadas, has been named the best female chef of 2023. It must be an incredible restaurant then, so if you ever happen to be heading to Mexico…

Elena Reygadas will receive this award on June 20 in Valencia; The World’s 50 Best Restaurants will be announced there, of which this category is a part.

More than just a chef

Reygadas is praised not only for her cooking skills, but also for her own organization: Beca Elena Reygadas. This organization awards scholarships to women who aspire to a career in the culinary world but do not have the money to attend culinary school. Elena Reygadas herself studied at The French Culinary Institute in New York and then gained experience in London, at the restaurant Locanda Locatelli (owned by Italian chef Giorgio Locatelli).

She has now been working in Mexico for quite some time, where she wants to incorporate the country’s rich history, local ingredients and traditional Mexican cooking techniques into the menu. She also has a passion for baking, which is why she opened her own bakery called La Panadería de Rosetta, also in Mexico City. Well, as I said: off to Mexico.
