Tip: Dum Dum Palace

When I walk along the Zeedijk in Amsterdam, I instantly crave Asian food. Dum Dum Palace is one of my favorites.

Dumplings, buns, the biggest oysters in the world, sticky wings and rendang fries—it’s all on the menu. Because no two dumplings are the same, they come in different shapes and sizes. With pork or shrimp, steamed or fried. The buns with pork belly are my favorite. But vegetarians won’t go without either: there are dumplings with tofu and buns with shiitake.

I like to wash down all that deliciousness with Panda Beer. They brew it themselves. If you’re up for an all-out evening, they also have Willy Vodka. Distilled in-house.

The prices are extremely reasonable. Two buns cost €9, for example, and a serving of sticky wings costs €6. The prices (and opening hours) also make Dum Dum Palace a great spot in the center of Amsterdam for a quick lunch or late-night snack.

A nice added bonus: the kitchen is behind a glass wall in the middle of the restaurant. If you choose the right table, you’ll also have a fantastic view.

The atmosphere is great and the staff are relaxed. And, most importantly, the food is delicious.
