Tony’s chocolate factory (with roller coaster) is one step closer again

Yes guys, some good news in these bleak times: the Tony’s Chocolonely factory — the one with a roller coaster (!!) — really looks like it’s going to happen. The municipal executive of Zaanstad is enthusiastic about the plans.

‘The plans Tony’s Chocolonely has shared with us look good and are an enrichment for Zaanstad,’ the municipal executive states in a declaration. Now the proposal only needs to be approved by the municipal council, after which Tony’s can submit an official permit application.
Roller coaster
The building — which is to be located at Pakhuis de Vrede — will consist of two factories: one where the beans are converted into a liquid mass, and a second factory where the liquid chocolate is processed into bars.
But that’s not all. It will also be the new headquarters, a restaurant and a conference venue. All well and good, but of course it’s that roller coaster that makes us all bounce with excitement. It won’t get much more Charlie and the Chocolate Factory than this.
Rumour
And there are also rumours that a Tony Chocolonely café is coming to Amsterdam! How, what, where, when? No idea yet. And we suspect that the coronavirus crisis is also throwing a spanner in the works, but as soon as we know more, we’ll of course let you know.
