Tony’s Chocolonely’s headquarters are moving. That may not sound like the most interesting news to you—you can simply pick up those delicious bars at the local supermarket. But you really do want to pay a visit to this enormous chocolate complex.

Chocolate circus

The gigantic complex will not only house the headquarters; a huge chocolate factory and a restaurant will also be built there, along with that roller coaster. Yes, really, a roller coaster! Chief Chocolate Officer Henk Jan Beltman announced this joyous news yesterday at Tony’s FAIR. He says the complex should offer a complete experience and wants to encourage everyone to come and visit.

He describes it as a Tony’s Chocolonely Chocolate Circus, where you can learn and experience everything about chocolate, the problems in the cocoa industry and what Tony’s Chocolonely is doing about them. Each year, they aim to welcome up to 500,000 chocolate fans. The building in Zaandam, Pakhuis De Vrede, was formerly used to store grains and seeds, including cocoa. So it’s completely full circle.

Anticipation

Hold off on buying a train ticket to Zaandam for now. The site will not be transferred until 2020, and the warehouse still needs to be renovated. So there’s a very long wait to look forward to—yes!
