Useful TikTok Trick for Measuring Sticky Liquids When Baking

Using honey, agave syrup or date syrup in a baking recipe can produce a delicious result, but it can also be quite a hassle when measuring out the required amount. Often, some of it sticks to the spoon, so you start scraping it off with an extra spoon, only for it to stick to that one too, and so on. And how often have you simply wiped your finger along it, only to lick it off and then have to wash your hands… in short, a hassle.

But TikTok wouldn’t be TikTok if someone hadn’t come up with a trick for that and then shared it on this platform full of both ridiculous and very useful videos. This probably won’t work with every liquid ingredient, but it’s worth trying for something thick like honey!
Holey moley spoon
And like many TikTok hacks, this is an incredibly simple trick: use the rounded side of a measuring spoon (for example, a half-tablespoon measure) to make a neat hollow in the flour or type of meal you’re going to use. Then pour the honey or syrup into it, and voilà: exactly the amount for which you made a ‘mold’. It also saves on washing up, because the spoon can simply go straight back into the cupboard.
You have to see it
This won’t work with very thin liquids such as vanilla extract or milk, because they’ll probably disappear straight into the flour. But once again, for thicker liquids such as honey or syrup, this seems like a great trick! See the video below for a short demonstration:
