Want to go: Pastéis de Nata’s pop-up

I still sometimes dream about it: the time I tasted a Pastéis de Nata for the first time in Belèm, Portugal. Everyone was so lyrical about it that it could really only be disappointing. But it wasn’t. It was unbelievably delicious, absolutely divine. The only downside is that Belèm isn’t exactly around the corner, and I’m still searching for the perfect Pastéis de Nata here in the Netherlands.

And it may well be that a serious contender has been added today: a pop-up with Pastéis de Nata is coming to Amsterdam.

The pop-up is open every Wednesday through Sunday

And you can find it in Amsterdam, on Nieuwe Spiegelstraat to be precise, where Pasta e Basta is located. The Pastéis de Nata pop-up by Michelin-starred restaurant ‘t Nonnetje has temporarily set up shop there. ‘t Nonnetje is currently undergoing major renovations, so owners Robert-Jan Nijland and Michel van der Kroft came up with something fun: a pop-up featuring Michel’s specialties. And that’s how Pastéis de Nata e Basta was born.

They’re opening for the first time today, and from now on, they’ll be the place to get a Pastéis de Nata every Wednesday through Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. You’ll definitely find me there this weekend. And probably every weekend after that too. Check their Instagram for more information.
