We got to taste: comfort food from Wyers

This spring, restaurant & bar Wyers will open its doors in Amsterdam. Chef Sam DeMarco showed up at our office with an enormous amount of delicious food. From fresh salmon rillette to soft foie gras: we got to taste his comfort food.

And oh, was it good. Two trays filled with veal tartare and tonnato, marinated vegetables, fruits de mer salad, hangop with passion fruit, pâté with pistachio and katenspek, banana bread from Baked in Amsterdam, small soft brioche rolls and much more were laid out on the editorial desks.

Wyers will be located in the (also new) Kimpton De Witt hotel on Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal in Amsterdam. Renovations are still underway, but they are expected to open in May. And that is just as well, because although it was an abundance of food, it has now been eaten and we want more.

House Bar is also opening its doors in the hotel, where you can enjoy craft cocktails. If you do not have enough time to sit down at one of the two establishments, you can stop by Miss Louisa Coffee & Beignets. It will be a to-go bakery where you order your coffee or beignet at the window. Let May come quickly.
