What sommeliers will never drink again

Sommeliers are only human. Because when they’re not sniffing the finest Bordeaux wines that we mere mortals can only dream of, they also sometimes drink beverages that are impossible to stomach. But they will never drink these again:

Erica Verweijen, sommelier Aan de Poel
“Butter liqueur—not good for your cholesterol.”
Nabil Touires, sommelier Graham’s Kitchen
“Some biodynamic wines without sulfites: too dark in color, too rustic and absolutely unbalanced. I really can’t serve them to my guests!”
Imil Ayoub, sommelier The Harbour Club
“Straight whisky—it gives me heartburn.”
Randy Bouwer, sommelier Zarzo Eindhoven
“Goldstrike… I was 17… This cinnamon liqueur… Too much of the wrong thing in the wrong place at the worst possible time…”
Isabel van Bueren, sommelier The White Room by Jacob Jan Boerma
“Château Lafite Rothschild 1990. A beautiful wine from a wonderful vintage. I once tasted it at a special tasting. But I’ll probably never drink it again… it’s simply unaffordable!”
Axel Rosier, sommelier Restaurant Fred
“Kombucha. Such an overhyped trend drink that I really have absolutely no interest in.”
Charlotte Wagner, sommelier Moshik
“Jägermeister shots. I once had a terrible hangover from them.”
Ruben Kwakman, sommelier Zarzo Eindhoven and wearesommos
“Bacardi Limon with cola. In my early days in the hospitality industry, this was my favorite; now I’m disgusted by the very thought of it.”
