Where to Get the Tastiest Spareribs in the Netherlands

The Spareribs Trophy has been awarded once again. This coveted prize is presented every year by the Royal Dutch Butchers (KNS). This year’s winner of the Spareribs Trophy professional competition is Keurslager Tim Janssen from Groesbeek.

More than 80 butchers entered their spareribs in this professional competition, and all the spareribs were judged by an expert jury on aroma, taste, composition and preparation. Winner Tim Janssen is no stranger to the competition; he had already reached the final before: “A wonderful compliment from the jury and a reward for the hard work that goes into this artisanal product!”, said the delighted butcher.

Good, tender bite
Tim Janssen is one of the youngest butchers in the Netherlands. He opened his own Keurslager butcher shop at the age of 21. The jury said this about Tim’s winning spareribs: “These spareribs were prepared with care and expertise. They are perfect, with a good, tender bite. A real winner—congratulations!”
Even more delicious spareribs
For the undoubtedly delicious spareribs that came in second and third place, head to Barten’s Slagerij in Zwijndrecht (second prize) and Keurslager Beverdam from Rijssen, who came third. And what should you make then? Jack Daniels spareribs!
The Spareribs Trophy is one of the professional competitions organised by KNS. In addition, KNS is also organising the Lekkerste Bal Gehakt competition this year.
