Why You’ll Always Want to Have a Bottle of Vodka at Home — Even If You Don’t Drink Vodka

Even if you can barely stomach vodka (like yours truly), it’s still a good idea to keep the stuff at home. We’ve already given you one reason: you can use it to make an incredible pasta sauce. But there’s another good reason, and it has absolutely nothing to do with eating or drinking.

Here’s another intriguing hint: they make plenty of use of it at the Dutch National Ballet, too. Sounds mysterious, doesn’t it?
Vodka in your clothes
I won’t keep you in suspense any longer. Vodka is actually the ideal way to remove unpleasant smells from your clothes. That’s because the high alcohol content in vodka kills bacteria. Nasty smells disappear in the blink of an eye. You don’t have to worry about ending up smelling like a walking bar instead, because vodka itself is odorless.
Fresh and fabulous thanks to vodka
All you have to do is put one part vodka and two parts water in a spray bottle. Use it to spray the inside of your blazer, dress, blouse or whatever else you want to freshen up. Your garment will be ready to wear again afterward. And all without having to take it to the dry cleaner or put it in the wash!
Oh, and to solve the mystery of the Dutch National Ballet: the crew there also uses this trick to freshen up the tutus. Clever, right? The vodka trick also works perfectly if your clothes smell after an evening of gourmetten. We all know how badly that can stink, so there you go: you’re welcome.
