With this simple trick, you can always make beautifully round cookies

Those really simple kitchen hacks that aren’t earth-shattering, that definitely aren’t going to bring world peace or solve coronavirus, but do bring a little bit of happiness… aren’t they great? So if you’re going to bake lots and lots of cookies in the coming period to comfort yourself in these strange times, or simply because you love baking cookies and plan to give them to everyone over the holidays (great idea, do it!), this tip might be perfect for you.

Because homemade cookies can of course stand out through the charm of being ‘homemade’: wonky tops, specimens that haven’t had a single raisin make it in, messy edges… all fun! But sometimes you simply want to make an effort and deliver PERFECTLY round cookies. Because you have a huge need for order, because you’re feeling ambitious, or to make your baking brother-in-law green with envy at Christmas dinner… And then you do this!
Simplicity and happiness
Because TikTok has brought us another hack that will amaze you with its simplicity, and that you’ll want to try immediately if a cookie (a chocolate cookie, for example!) makes you just as happy as it makes us. What do you need? A cookie cutter: a round ring that lets you cut perfect circles out of dough, and also make other round things such as a tower of rice or a veggie burger. It would probably work with a mug with the bottom cut out too, but with a ring at least you can see what you’re doing. Maybe immediately put a set of different sizes on your Christmas wish list?
You ask, we turn
In any case, for this trick you need a cutter that’s slightly larger than the cookies coming out of the oven (which is why a set is handy, so you can quickly switch if it turns out to be too small). When you take the cookies out of the oven, immediately place the ring around a cookie and make a twisting motion, causing the edges of the cookie to ‘slosh’ around into the shape.
This creates a lovely circular edge, and then you quickly move on to the next cookie. It’s important to do this while the cookies are still hot and slightly soft, otherwise it won’t work. Once you’ve done them all, let the cookies cool down as you normally would, preferably on a wire rack. Look how cute:

That was it. Nice, right? Just a small, simple thing that makes life a little more enjoyable… Round cookies, that’s it. Hang in there, stay healthy!
